Battling Coronavirus Pandemic with Emerging Technologies
The world is currently battling the Coronavirus (COVID-19), infectious diseases declared as a pandemic by WHO. The outbreak of this pandemic was first reported in late December 2019 from Wuhan in China, quickly spread to become a global health emergency. According to a report published in Bloomberg in April, more than 1 million people are infected while more than 51000 have died after succumbing to coronavirus. Let us see how the world is battling coronavirus pandemic with emerging technologies
New and emerging technologies are being deployed all across the world to fight against the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus. The epicenter of this highly contagious disease, China along with their tech leaders like Alibaba, Huawei, Baidu relied heavenly on artificial intelligence, data science, robotics, drones or unmanned aerial vehicles, machine learning and other emerging technologies to fight against Coronavirus.
Artificial Intelligence
AI is being used to track the spread of the coronavirus. Some of the countries in Europe have been collecting anonymized data to study the movement of people in a more general manner. The outbreak can be managed and the fatalities can be minimized by decreasing the burden of medical professionals using AI. AI can help us to remind people about proper care procedures and what to do if they are contracted by the virus. China used AI to sort scans to spot the infection and detailed mapping of the outbreak. We have seen the rise in the investment in AI by pharma companies for clinical trials and drug development.
Robotics
Robots, Humanoids have replaced humans in the fight against this deadly virus. Robots are being used to deliver groceries, sanitize hospitals, sterilize public transports and also monitor patients. Robots have been deployed at the hospitals and quarantine centers to serve the medicines and food supplies to infected patients. A supermarket in Germany deployed a robot which will advise the customers about social distancing. Robots are being used to deliver food to customers. Tunisian police are using robots for patrolling to enforce a nationwide lockdown.
Drones
Dubai and Sharjah Police have started using drones equipped with high-resolution cameras to enforce coronavirus lockdown. Drones are also being used by Dubai Municipality to sterilize the streets under National Disinfection Programme. Authorities in India also use drones to monitor the 21 days national lockdown and disinfect public spaces. Drones were also used in China to supply food and other much-needed consumer goods to the residents in lockdown.
Smart Gateway at Abu Dhabi Bus Station
Abu Dhabi transport authorities have installed a smart gateway which sprays disinfectant as people pass through. To protect the frontline workers, the germ-killing gateway has also been installed at the entrance of Dubai Ambulance’s accommodation.
Smart helmets to detect body temperatures
Police in the Chinese city of Shenzhen using a smart helmet with an infrared camera and facial recognition technology to detect the body temperature of people roaming around.
Automatic Hand Sanitizer Dispensers
Lazulite Technology Services made this automatic hand sanitizer for extra protection. We can make cost-effective Touchless, Automatic Hand Sanitizer Dispensers for you. Reduce the exposure to the germs by replacing the manual soap and sanitizer dispensers to automatic hand sanitizer dispensers.
